Iare Pekhit uses art to improve Georgia's pedestrian rights. We do this for two reasons. We believe art, a visual product, is the perfect tool to draw attention to issues that matter. But we also believe that with art we can tackle pedestrian rights issues in a different way.
Often, it is the arts that first give shape and voice to a new vision. And that is why we use artistic mechanisms to tackle social issues. Art is a mode of thinking. A mode of producing.
Most people only use rational thinking, but artists are trained to use accident, mistake, contradiction, intuition. That is why at Iare Pekhit we like to work with artists, as they have different ways to arrive to interesting solutions to public space issues.
That is also, why the majority of our staff are artists or curators themselves.
